About our Guests:

Ammie is a caregiver to her partner, Jose (stage 4 Hodgkin Lymphoma). It became immediately clear that the cancer treatment system is built to treat the cancer, not the whole patient. The patient spends more time at home with the caregiver than in the cancer treatment center, yet they didn't receive any advice, help, tips, brochures, NOTHING on how to deal with cancer and life at home or guidance on how to find that information. Sadly, this is an all too common occurrence. Having identified gaps in the patient care and caregiving process of cancer, Ammie took her new found knowledge on cancer and caregiving and coupled that with her experience as a business strategist and operations management specialist to create the Caregiver's Guide to Cancer podcast. On the podcast, Ammie shares her insights and lessons as a caregiver. The podcast began to evolve and now the Caregiver's Guide to Cancer website (www.caregiversguidetocancer.com) also houses caregiver resources. Resources are built such that anyone, whether you're new to caregiving or you've been doing it awhile and need to get better organized, can pick them up and create structure around the cancer care process and the caregiver self-care process.
