About the event
Healthcare is complicated, and the United States' system is particularly complicated. Medicaid is a huge component of our system and directly or not, it impacts all of us. Did you know that Medicaid pays for nearly half of all live births in the United States, pays for a large portion of a long term care, and provides payments to hospitals who serve a disproportionate number of uninsured so that they can remain solvent? Or, that Medicaid has helped to improve health outcomes across the country since it was created in the late 1960's. A recently published study shows that cancer deaths decreased in states that expanded Medicaid versus those that have not under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If you are not sure how someone applies for Medicaid or who might be eligible, what the difference is between the ACA and Obamacare is (actually, they are the same thing), what the difference is between Medicare and Medicaid, or Medicare for All is, or are generally interested in healthcare, join us for this discussion. We will also provide some basic information on Medicaid coverage for breast cancer screenings and treatment, though it varies by state and territory.
